Inch Cape Offshore Wind Farm, owned by an equal joint venture between Red Rock Power and ESB, has secured a CfD award in today’s auction results.

Guy Madgwick, CEO of Red Rock Power, said: “Securing a CfD award has been a key priority for our business and a vital step forward for Inch Cape. We’ve used the last two years to maximise every opportunity to optimise the wind farm and lower the cost of energy, a goal which will deliver greater benefits than we first imagined as the country continues to increase energy security and access to affordable, green electricity.

“Today’s success is a result of the project team’s expertise and dedication, and I am grateful for their valuable contribution during a pandemic no less. The hard work really starts now however and we’re looking forward to moving on to the next phase of the project together with our colleagues at ESB.”

Adam Ezzamel, Inch Cape’s Project Director, added: “This is an important milestone for the project, and testament to the great work of team which has completely re-engineered the wind farm over the last two years. Their work has resulted in a project with significantly greater output and a lower cost of energy, ensuring that we were able to submit a successful bid to the auction. Our focus now moves to the contracting of key work packages and progressing towards a final investment decision by the middle of next year.”
