The Benbrack onshore wind farm project, acquired by Red Rock Renewables in February 2021, is located in Dumfries & Galloway, Southwest Scotland.

The wind farm site sits just south of the East Ayrshire border, approximately 6 km north of Carsphairn and east of the A713. *The application boundary does not represent the actual footprint of the wind farm, rather the area of land to which the planning permission and related scoping studies apply to. The actual size of the wind farm will be considerably smaller.

The wind farm was first proposed in 2012 and secured planning consent in 2017 which has since been varied to further optimise the project. It will consist of 15 turbines which have a maximum tip height of 149m and a total generation capacity of 67MW.

Construction Timeline

Construction commenced in October 2022, with Jones Bros completing balance of plant and civil engineering works at the end of 2023. Vestas then initiated the delivery and installation of turbines in Spring 2024, and the project is on track for completion by end of 2025.
