• Dumfries & Galloway project awarded contract for more than half of annual generation

Benbrack Wind Farm has successfully secured a Contract for Difference (CfD) award for 31.1MW capacity in Allocation Round 5 (AR5), providing a long-term revenue stream for more than 50 per cent of its estimated annual generation over the next 15 years.

Owned by Red Rock Power, the 67.1MW 15-turbine wind farm project in Dumfries & Galloway commenced construction in October 2022. Balance of plant contractor, Jones Bros is currently on track to complete civil works before the end of this year in preparation for turbine installation in Spring 2024.

David Fielding, Project Director, said: “Securing a CfD is a crucial key milestone for the Benbrack Wind Farm project. Fixing part of the generation income is key in reducing financial risk to the project and demonstrates the team’s commitment to delivering a successful project over the last two years.”

Benbrack was Red Rock Power’s first development to move into construction under the Edinburgh team’s management and marked a significant step forward for the business. Taking this leap, without a confirmed route to market at the time, demonstrated its long-term investment in growing its portfolio and commitment to supporting the country’s net zero ambitions.

Once complete, Benbrack will power approximately 70,000 homes.
